Long travel day to NZ!
My last tournament finished in Cincinnati on the 20th of Feb and there wasn’t time to travel home before heading to my next tournament in New Zealand!
I’m really excited to be competing here as it’s a country I’ve always wanted to go to and I’ve never been before! The tournament is being held in Christchurch and so I flew straight there from the US.
The journey was a big one…
Door to door the journey ended up being 37 hours which is a new record for me!
Unfortunately Cincinnati doesn’t fly to that many airports and so I flew to Dallas before the super long flight to Sydney. This was a 17hr30 flight, the longest I’ve been on and I was dreading it… But in the end the flight wasn’t bad at all as it was an empty plane and so I had 4 full seats to myself meaning I could stretch out and get some good sleep.
I had to connect in Australia as there wasn’t a direct flight into Christchurch from the US. So after a layover in Australia I was on my way to New Zealand on a 3hr flight- which felt like nothing after the previous one!
I finally arrived in NZ and it was full focus on staying awake as I landed at 3pm. This meant I had to stay active by going out for walks and looking after my body with some mobility, stretching and using the recovery boots.

Tournament info
This tournament is a silver size event and the first round starts on the 3rd of March. I’m playing the wildcard Kaitlyn Watts (NZ) on the glass court which is being put up in the Isaac Theatre. I’m really excited to play on this court as it looked amazing last year!
